Our Mission

A worshipping community called by God to know and love Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to share the Good News with others.

What we value

THE WORD OF GOD: We value the unchangeable word of God (the Bible), as being essential to a true and active faith, and we believe in its relevance to the contemporary world.

PRAYER: We value the effectiveness and power of Spirit-led prayer that inspires and directs our lives.

RELATIONSHIP: We value people, and seek to develop healthy relationships as a basis for growth, learning and serving.

SAFETY: We value the safety of all people, particularly those who are vulnerable or marginalised, and follow the Safe Ministry requirements of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. The Code of Conduct for Child Safety and other key Safe Ministry documents can be found on the Safe Ministry Documents page of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne website.

DIVERSITY: We value the acceptance of people from different backgrounds and age groups.  It is faith in Christ and His salvation that binds us together.

INDIGENOUS RECONCILIATION: We aim to become a community of faith that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will recognise as a place where they are respected, welcomed, and will experience the love that the triune God has always had for all peoples.

HEALING: We value physical, spiritual and relational healing through various means including prayer ministry and inner healing.

EVANGELISM and OUTREACH: We value the Good News of God's free gift of forgiveness and new life for all who trust in Jesus Christ. We seek to share God’s love for all people as we reach out to people through relationships and pastoral care.

What we believe

As an Anglican Church we affirm the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed (see below) and The Articles of Religion called the 39 Articles (found in 'A Prayer Book For Australia', the Anglican prayer book).

In A.D. 381, the Council in Constantinople adopted this revised and expanded form of the A.D. 325 creed, now known as the Nicene Creed.

NICENE CREED

We believe in one God
     the Father Almighty,
     maker of heaven and earth,
     of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
     the only Son of God,
     eternally begotten of the Father,
     God from God, Light from Light,
     true God from true God,
     begotten, not made,
     of one being with the Father;
     through him all things were made.
     For us and for our salvation
     he came down from heaven:
     was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
     and became truly human.
     For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
     he suffered death and was buried.
     On the third day he rose again
     in accordance with the Scriptures;
     he ascended into heaven
     and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
     He will come again in glory to judge
     the living and the dead,
     and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
     who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
     Who with the Father and the Son he
     is worshipped and glorified,
     who has spoken through the prophets.
     We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
     We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of         sins.
     We look for the resurrection of the dead,
     and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

An early version of what later became the Apostles’ Creed, called the “Old Roman Creed,” was in use as early as the second century. The name, The Apostles' Creed, indicates it represents the teaching of the Apostles.

APOSTLES' CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
     creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
     who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
     born of the virgin Mary,
     suffered under Pontius Pilate,
     was crucified, died, and was buried;
     he descended to the dead.
     On the third day he rose from the dead;
     he ascended into heaven,
     and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
     from there he will come to judge the living and the
     dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
     the holy catholic Church,
     the communion of saints,
     the forgiveness of sins,
     the resurrection of the body,
     and the life everlasting.

Amen.
